Every single personal computer or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that interacts with the hardware equipment, including peripheral devices such as a mouse or a printer, and any apps that are installed on your system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, each and every application runs within the parameters defined by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, and so on. This is valid for both standard website scripts and server-side software like a media server. In case a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, named guest OS and host OS, so you will be able to set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

We offer as many as three different Linux releases for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the safest and the most reliable OSs you can find and we supply all 3 instead of just 1 as we realize that you might want to set up some software which has specific requirements for the Operating System it will run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a large support community behind it and there are different software applications you may install on the web hosting server. Your OS choice will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS in case you wish to use one and that's why we offer multiple Control Panels as well. Should you decide that you want a different OS, our tech support can quickly wipe the present one and set up the one that you need. In addition, we offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

If you decide to buy one of our dedicated servers, you'll find three Operating Systems on the registration page because we want to give you a larger choice with regard to the system environment on your machine as different apps may have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian come with different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and benefit from a stable and safe Internet hosting service. Based on your selection, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always replace the Operating System if the one you've selected at first does not meet the requirements of the software that you want to run. We can also update the OS routinely to keep it as risk-free as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
