Every single registered domain has a minimum of two Name Server records which show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you point your Internet domain to the servers of a certain website hosting company. This way, you have both your website and your e-mails managed by the same service provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there is a variety of other records, like A and MX. The first one shows which server manages the site for a given domain address and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter shows which server handles the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an illustration, whenever you enter a domain address in your web browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain uses and from there you may be sent to the servers of a different company provided you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain name. Having separate records for the website and the e-mails means you may have your site and your emails with 2 different companies if you wish.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

If you have a shared hosting from us, you will be able to see, create and change any A or MX record for your Internet addresses. As long as a given Internet domain has our Name Servers, you're going to be able to modify particular records using our Hepsia hosting CP and have your site or e-mails directed to any other service provider if you wish to use only one of our services. Our state-of-the-art tool will enable you to have a domain address hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted elsewhere by modifying only its A record - this will not affect the main domain name in any way. If you decide to use the email services of a different company and they want you to create more than two MX records, you can easily do it with simply a couple of clicks within the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. Also you can set different latency for every single MX record i.e. which one is going to have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Accessing and changing the A or MX records for any of your domain names or subdomains is incredibly easy if you buy a semi-dedicated server plan through our company. The accounts are maintained by using our in-house built Hepsia CP, which features a section dedicated to the DNS records of your domains. The latter is going to be listed alphabetically and you could click on each of them to see both the A and the MX records. Editing any record is as easy as typing in the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even when you have never dealt with such matters before, you simply won't experience any difficulties if you choose to point your website or emails to another service provider while keeping the second service with our company. If necessary, you could also create additional MX records and set a specific priority in accordance with the recommendations of the new provider.
